Breathtaking Photo From The LRO

Published on August 28, 2009 by Jules   ·   No Comments

Currently orbiting the Moon is the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). NASA, and as a result we, have been getting amazing pictures including images of the landing sites of the Apollo Missions.

One of the most recent images is this beauty:

With images like these and so many others, it amazes me whenever there are talks about cutting NASA. Thanks to all the research done at NASA as well as funding the creation of technological marvels such as the LRO, Hubble, space shuttles, probes, rovers, etc. (the construction of most are through contractors and subcontractors, not NASA actual), many jobs are created. These projects and research provide the seed for much of the technology we currently enjoy. Plus space exploration unites the world. It gives the entire global civilization something to dream for, something to shoot for as a whole even when at odds with each other. /sermon
