Some people may be surprised by this post as it is something that I would normally never do. As a general rule, I am against this whole “if I get so many followers by such and such date, I will give you this.” However, as I do not currently have my radio show to promote this and am a strong believer in independent musicians and believe they are the ones that need our help and support the most, I am going to promote this here. I hope it does not set a precedent. So let me just say this now, if you email me asking for something similar, my answer will most likely be no (exception of course is if you think you would qualify for featured musician of the month or want an interview, etc.). These gentlemen did not ask me to do this for them, I offered.
There is this group of young musicians called Godz Poddlz. I have mentioned them here before as they were among the list of competitors in Masters of Song Fu 5. You may still be asking yourself, “Godz what?” Well let me further explain by copying and pasting what they have to say for themselves on another site:
Legendz foretell of a mighty duo, born in the frozen North. Two neighborz and friendz will unite to form “Gödz Pöödlz” and battle the Mazterz or Song Fu for glory and bragging rightz! Gödz Pöödlz are Rüss Rögers and Rhöd Dürre. Rüss Rögers was once a member of “Kit and Kaboodle” (still available on iTunes) and currently performs in “Rusty’s Rocking Jamboree!” Rhöd Dürre wrote and performed with the Goth Rock Godz, “Sear”, and last year Rhöd won the Coor’s Light “Take the 4:53 to Happy Hour” songwriting contest! Remember, the heaviest of metals are soft! Gödz Pöödlz gathered tens of fans and notable reviews with their participation in Masters of Song Fu 4. Their songs are available for purchase at godzpoodlz.bandcamp.com
These fine young gentlemen are on a mission. What is this mission you may ask? Well I am glad that you asked this question. Their mission is simple. They want to acquire 100 fans on their Facebook Fan Page by February 1, 2010. If they complete this mission, they have a gift for you in return. What is this gift? Again, I am glad you asked. The gift is as follows:
If we have 100 fans by February 1st we’ll make our album at godzpoodlz.bandcamp.com a FREE download for the week of Valentines Day. Plus, we will write and record a NEW song based on some fanz suggestions for the album. The details are here:

So, stop by the Godz Poodlz fan page and make a suggestion for a song. Or suggest Godz Poodlz to your friends.
I would appreciate it if you did. Because I said before, it is the independent musicians that need our support the most. And I am sure the guys at Godz Poddlz will appreciate it as well.

Jules, you ROCK! Thank you so much for the plug on Geeky Pleasures! It’s an honor to think this might mean that Godz Poodlz ARE also a Geeky Pleasure! It’s an honor to number you among our fans.
Godz Poodlz are young, we only formed in 2009 to compete in Song #4. But both Rhod and I are fathers of 4 daughters each! And I’m slightly older than Fu Master Joe Covenant. I’m more than twice as old as Mike Lombardo.
To give you an update on our progress in the Fan Drive: as of 1/16, we have 72 fans! I think we may reach our modest goal of 100 fans by the end of the month! Yeah!
But so far, there has only been one person who has made suggestions for a song. So, if you or any of your readers have ever wanted a song written about a specific person, place, subject or for a particular occasion, NOW is the time to join the Legionz of Godz Poodlz Fanz and make a suggestion. Do you need your very own personal theme song? The song idea chosen will be written, recorded and included on our album before Valentines Day, with a “THANK YOU” included in the notes for the song to the lucky and clever fan who makes the chosen suggestion. Your chances of having your idea picked are better than winning the lottery or even Bingo … right now, the one suggestion we have has a better chance of getting picked than winning a coin flip!
My pleasure Russ
4 girls a piece? Oy vey!
Godz Poodlz has a new Geeky Video! “She Boogies” (345-5316008). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-E1ui3xxWQ The song is written using only words that can be spelled on a standard digital calculator. Watch the video and you’ll understand. It was written for the Masters of Song Fu challenge to write a song about a number. We wrote a whole song using ONLY numbers!
