Watch w00tstock 2.4 San Diego Comic-Con

w00tstockThanks to my minion Kevin Savino-Riker (@RITmusic2k) capturing the video and after hours of me converting, editing, rendering and uploading video, you can now watch the majority that is the awesome of w00tstock 2.4. Why do I say the majority and not all? Well, I’ll let my minion Kevin, explain:

Oh, one more thing: conspicuously absent from this collection is Wil Wheaton’s performance; there was a certain amount of unpreparedness on my part that resulted in me not knowing that my phone could only record up to 49 minutes of footage at a time.  I set the phone up in a remote location on a tripod to record the first half of the show, then sat down in my seat and drank a lot of beer.  As such, it wasn’t until I went to check at intermission that I discovered that I missed almost an hour’s worth of material.  This is also why footage from the second half of the show is shot using Shaky-Cam technique.  That’s still popular, I hope.

Before I link you with the handy dandy playlist which I created for your easy watching pleasure (I’ll also include the individual videos so that you can pick and choose which parts you want to watch if that is what pleases you), a few notes.

First, I invite you to read my minion’s Kevin’s account of his w00tstock experience by following the handy dandy link below.

Second, if you are not yet familiar with w00tstock, please read the following explanation:

Of course the only way to get the full experience is to attend a w00tstock for reals, but for spatial and temporal reasons that might not be practical for you. But we hope this page might give you the basic flavors.

For literalists, w00tstock is a live concert series that periodically appears in different cities:

Hosted by Adam Savage, Wil Wheaton, and Paul and Storm

Features different guest acts and short films in each city

Has a mix of music; comedy; geeky short presentations; and thought-provoking stories

Is scheduled to run roughly three hours, but YMMV

Has a meet-and-greet reception with the hosts and guests after the performance

Or for the the metaphorically-minded, w00tstock is:

Nerd Vaudeville

The best parts of a Convention rolled into a high-energy concert event

A live celebration of all things nerd and geek

Third, some bonus material courtesy of Paul & Storm (@paulandstorm):

Special thanks to @BillCorbett and @KevinMurphy of www.rifftrax.com for starting the Twitter meme that inspired the video, and for a few of the signs.
