If you read my personal blog, then you are aware that Geeky Pleasures will be back on air! But wait! There are more announcements to make. Plus I need your help with deciding a couple of things so that I can best accommodate you, my readers and listeners.
Things are moving along much quicker than anticipated. Within the next couple of days, construction of the station’s website will begin, along with the creation of a Facebook page and Twitter account. Oh wait a minute! I suppose I should tell you the name of this new radio station.
The radio station will be called Flava The Force 925. The station will be online radio only, however there will be a number of ways in which you can tune in. It will be dedicated to both mainstream and independent musicians. If you are an independent musician wanting some airtime, keep watching this space for news on how to submit your music for consideration. There will be a wide variety of music, brought to you by personalities from around the world, with a new genre every 3-5 hours. There will also be a dedicated chat for those personalities who choose to use it to interact with their listeners during their shows. There are a lot of other exciting things in the works. There will be more announcements as we get closer to the launch date.
Launch date? What is this launch date you speak of? Mark your calendars for January 1 January 3, 2011 at 12 am EST! Exact time is yet to be determined, but we will be launching on New Years. The first day’s schedule will not be the regular schedule. As soon as we are finished with the staffing and scheduling process, those details will be announced. On January 2 January 4, 2011, we will commence with our regularly scheduled shows. As of this moment, staffing is being done through invite only. However, within the next week or so, applications from the general public will be accepted. If you’d like to have your own radio show and have a minimum of 4-5 hours, 1 day a week that you are able to dedicate, keep watching this space for more details. I can tell you right now, if you plan on playing alternative/rock/etc or pop, you will be first on the list. At this moment, I am not accepting anymore hip/hop and R&B shows, as I have plenty. Keep in mind, this will be an unpaid internship (with incentives) with the potential for income in the near future. Full training and programs will be provided.
There is so much more but that is all I am able to really confirm at this time. If there are no hitches, the station’s website will be live on December 1, 2010. But for now, I need your help decided my air times. At this moment in time, I’m looking to be on air 2 days a week. I’ll be on air Friday’s for 4 hours, 2 of those hours will be Geeky Pleasures. The other day I’m looking at is Tuesday. I MAY do a late evening show on another day of the week. However, at this moment, I can only confirm these two days. So how can you help? It is pretty simple, just answer the polls below. The choices are limited but hopefully, even with the limited choices, I’ll be able to accommodate more people than not. If you are viewing this in an RSS reader, you’ll need to visit the site in order to vote.
First, what time should I start airing my shows on Fridays? (This poll is now closed. My show will begin at 5 pm/ 8 pm PT/ET)
Second, should Geeky Pleasures take place during the first 2 hours or the last two hours? (This poll is now closed. Geeky Pleasures will begin at 7 pm/ 10 pm PT/ET)
Finally, what time should I start to air on Tuesdays? (This Poll is now closed. I had to make an executive decision in order to accommodate other awesome shows. The Tuesday Show will begin at 1 pm PT/ 4 pm ET and will end at 5 pm PT/ 8 pm ET)
These polls will remain open for at least two weeks, hopefully anyway. I may have to make a decision on my own earlier, as the schedule is already starting to fill up quickly. So if you do have a preference and a time that would work best with you, please vote.
I think that is it for now. Are you excited? I know I’m really excited and cannot wait to start entertaining you all, once again, in real time!

“The Force”, huh? Obviously I love it. ‘nuf said
I think a lot of geeks/nerds will but I know why especially you
And it is a good multipurpose name. Could mean A LOT of things. And oh dear me, all of the little one-liners I have going through my head for station drops, etc., are filling me with more joy than should be legal.
Finally Star Wars does something good (totally kinda kidding all you Fanboys/girls. Star Wars is cool and all but I am a Trek fanatatic).
