As the winner of SpinTunes #2, Mitchell Adam Johnson is Geeky Pleasures’ Featured Independent Musician for the month of December. He managed to consistently write good quality songs for each round, impressing many.

Below you will find his bio, 5 tracks (if you are viewing this in an RSS reader, you’ll need to visit the site in order to listen) and many links to where you can find him online. I hope you enjoy.

Raised on a steady diet of The Beatles, Beach Boys, and Supremes, Mitchell Adam Johnson grew up with a head full of melodies. At St. John’s University, Mitchell spent countless nights writing, performing, and recording with his bands: Fred Savage & The Unbeatables, The Grandpas, and Spencer McGillicutty. On three different occasions, Fred Savage & The Unbeatables won the SJU Battle Of The Bands. Through his education and experience with various ensembles, Mitchell has played the role of songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist, with a grasp on instruments including guitar, bass, voice, piano, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, and percussion. In his many bands, Mitchell has shared the bill with a variety of acts, including Little Richard, The Shirelles, Tommy James & The Shondells, Three Dog Night, The Crickets, Bobby Vee, Better Than Ezra, Everclear, De La Soul, and The Jayhawks.

After graduating with a degree in Music, Mitchell moved to London, where he joined the band Sam & Me and performed all around England.  Sam & Me are signed with Akoustik Anarkhy Records.

Currently, Mitchell lives in Minneapolis with his 60′s style pop group, Spencer McGillicutty.  Most of Mitchell’s songwriting efforts are put into this band.  This past Autumn, Spencer released their most fully-realized album to date, Games.  Within months, Spencer McGillicutty was signed to the Japanese label, Fastcut Records. Currently, Spencer is working on their next album, which promises to be the most exciting collection of music Mitchell has assembled to date.
