Peter Budd, Melanie Teychenne King and Richard Hatch of The Apollo Awards Interview

On Friday, April 22, 2011, I had the extreme pleasure of interviewing 101010 Productions’ Peter Budd and Melanie Teychenne King (@melanietk) and Battlestar Galactica‘s Richard Hatch of The Apollo Awards (@ApolloAwards) on the Geeky Pleasures Radio Show.

I don’t even know how describe how much fun we had, despite a lot of technical difficulties. One of the things I enjoyed the most was being able to interview two people who were in Brisbane, Australia; one person in Los Angeles, California; while I’m in Canada; broadcasting it live to the world. Living in the future is awesome!

And now, the show notes:

Melanie Peter

    • As I said, there were a lot of technical difficulties. There was a storm brewing in Brisbane, which caused a lot of noise over the line, plus dropped calls. Richard’s phone also had a lot of static and he’d get so excited, he would periodically and accidentally hang-up the phone with his cheek. Also, because of the aforementioned, the volume levels from each of us are not equal. I tried my best to clean up the noise, normalise and equalise the sound, but my computer would have none of it. After 10 hours of trying to fix the sound and my computer crashing twice, I had to stop. I apologise. If you don’t listen with headphones, it is bearable. You just need to strain to hear the side of the conversation that is not mine.

  • Things we discussed include what are The Apollo Awards; when will they be broadcasting live (April 29, 2012); what other events are tied into The Apollo Awards, how will the nominations and voting work; what can be nominated and voted upon; we geeked out about science fiction and fantasy; I had a nerd rant about Roger Ebert; we discussed the geek and gaming community; we discussed conventions; we discussed politics and so much so. The conversation went to quite a bunch of different topics.
  • At the beginning of the interview, you’ll hear the Geeky Pleasures Radio Show theme song by Chris Cogott.
  • The total runtime of the interview is: 2 hours 50 minutes and 56 seconds.
  • The format is mp3, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo
  • The size is 156 MB.
