GottaCon is an annual broad-spectrum gaming convention held the first weekend of February at Pearkes Arena in Victoria, British Columbia.
I was the Special Events Coordinator for GottaCon 2012. Part of my role as Special Events Coordinator was to moderate the discussion panels.
The first discussion panel was Making a Player Character That is More Than Just Statistics. It was held on February 4, 2012. Seated on the panel were Alex Flagg (Crafty Games), Douglas Lloyd (Blackbyrne Publishing) and Eric Seaton (Crosstime Games of BC).
The panel outline read: Playing an RPG is about more than just rolling the dice. It is also about stepping off of the page and into your character. This panel will help you to develop a character that is more than just numbers on a page, putting the Role Playing in RPGs.

Some of the topics we explored during this panel include: How most people create a character; Ways to bring the character to life; Mistakes players make when they create a character; Things players can do to improve their character and game play. After the panel was over, there was a brief Q&A.
The panel, including Q&A, is just under 1 hour and 20 minutes. The file size is 73.1 MB. The file type is mp3, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo.
You can download the panel here (right click, save as).
